what causes brittle nails?
Brittleness in nails can, sometimes, be a sign of poor
health and poor diet.
So, if you suffer with this problem, first of all check
that you're following a well-balanced, healthy diet, with sufficient
iron, zinc and calcium in it.
Put yourself on a course of brewer's yeast tablets, and
make sure you're eating plenty of green, leafy vegetables, lentils, and
seafood.
More-often-than-not though, dry, brittle nails are
caused by abuse.
Detergents, glues and other chemicals will all dry out
and weaken your nails. So, too, will excessive and repeated use of
varnish, hardeners and removers.
Remember that nail varnish remover contains acetone - a
highly flammable and exremely powerful solvent - which is terribly
drying for your nails, whether or not conditioning agents are added.
So, keep varnishing your nails to a minimum, and protect
them from detergents and chemicals by wearing rubber gloves.
Although your first impulse might be to disguise brittle
nails with a coat of varnish, resist this!
You'd be much wiser to leave them as they are for the
time being, using these simple home remedy treatments to improve them
...
